Vietnam accelerates infrastructure projects for APEC 2027
An Giang province is accelerating the execution of 21 major infrastructure projects to prepare for the APEC 2027 Economic Leaders Week in the Phu Quoc special zone. The total investment for these projects exceeds 137 trillion dongs (approximately $5.22 billion).
The development plan is divided into two main categories. The first consists of 10 public investment projects, with over 13.2 trillion dongs allocated for 2026. Authorities have already issued nine emergency construction orders and selected contractors for most of these works. The second group includes 11 projects developed through public-private partnerships (PPP) and corporate investment, for which investor selection is complete.
Key projects currently underway or ahead of schedule include the expansion of Phu Quoc International Airport, the construction of a smart operations center for the Phu Quoc special zone, the Bai Dat Do mixed-use urban area, the Nui Ong Quan tourist urban area, and the Ho Cua Can water treatment plant. Local authorities are also coordinating a master plan for commemorative activities during the APEC 2027 year to ensure safety, quality, and transparency.
