Vietnam accelerates repairs on Provincial Road 160 landslide sites

Repair work on landslide-damaged sections of Provincial Road 160 along the Chay River has reached over 50% completion. The project aims to restore safe passage between the Bac Ha and Bao Yen areas by 2026.

Significant damage, including sections where the road surface has eroded by two-thirds, was caused by Typhoon Yagi and subsequent heavy rains from late 2025 storm cycles. Construction crews are currently using stone cages and reinforced embankments to stabilize the road foundation near Nam Ton Bridge in Coc Lau commune.

Local authorities and contractors face challenges due to narrow workspaces and the need to maintain traffic flow through the construction zones. The repairs are considered critical for local production, daily life, and the transport of goods in the region.
