Vietnam accelerates tech talent recruitment and digital transformation

Vietnam is intensifying efforts to attract technology talent and advance its digital economy. In Ho Chi Minh City, local authorities are launching programs to draw skilled workers to strategic sectors, while Hanoi is positioning the capital as a regional hub for semiconductor research and development through public‑private partnerships and targeted investment.

The government approved a National Digital Transformation Strategy for 2026‑2030, extending goals to 2045, aiming to modernize public services, the economy and society. Initiatives include the Vietnam AI Innovation Challenge, which gathered 1,500 participants and 340 teams in a 48‑hour hackathon co‑organized with Meta and FPT, offering incubation and funding for AI prototypes in finance, administration and industry. Additional measures feature collaborations with the IAEA on nuclear technology applications and the VinFuture prize network that connects Vietnamese researchers with leading international scientists.

These coordinated actions seek to foster an "open technological autonomy" that safeguards critical layers such as data encryption and cybersecurity while remaining integrated in global innovation chains.
