Vietnam accelerates tourism development through digital innovation and market expansion

Vietnam is implementing strategic measures to accelerate its tourism sector, focusing on digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and preparation for the APEC 2027 summit. The country is also seeking to strengthen international connectivity, notably through increased cooperation with India in aviation and hospitality.

Significant growth has been observed in specific markets, particularly from Russia and the CIS region. Da Nang reported over 411,000 visitors from these areas in the first eight months of 2026, a 94.2% year-on-year increase. Additionally, Phu Quoc has commenced its winter tourism season with the arrival of the first direct flight from Russia.

On the international stage, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park received two honors at the 2026 World Travel Awards, being named Asia’s Leading National Park and Vietnam’s Leading Natural Destination. Domestically, there is a growing emphasis on community-based tourism and medical tourism to create sustainable livelihoods and high-value market segments.
