Vietnam addresses private sector challenges in Party development and construction labor

Vietnam is facing distinct challenges in its private sector, ranging from organizational development to labor shortages in key industries.

In the realm of political organization, efforts to develop Communist Party cells within non-state enterprises face significant hurdles. Business owners often express concerns that Party activities may interfere with production or consume time that could be used for labor efficiency. In some foreign-invested enterprises, such as Piaggio Vietnam, owners have been reluctant to establish Party organizations due to fears of increased administrative reporting and meetings. Additionally, high labor turnover makes it difficult to maintain stable Party and union activities within private companies.

Simultaneously, the construction industry is grappling with a critical shortage of skilled labor and rising costs. To mitigate these issues, the Vietnam Association of Construction Contractors (VACC) is advocating for the adoption of modular and prefabricated technologies. Solutions such as large-panel precast concrete and robotic construction are being promoted to reduce reliance on manual labor and shorten project timelines. Industry experts suggest that while older prefabricated technologies faced quality perceptions, modern structural solutions can improve productivity and meet the demands of large-scale urban and infrastructure projects.
