Vietnam adds vehicle registration data to national ID platform VNeID

From 8 June 2026, Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security will implement Circular 37, amending existing regulations on vehicle registration and inspection. The amendment requires electronic vehicle‑registration certificates to be integrated into the national identity application VNeID and the traffic‑service app VNeTraffic.

The new rules aim to simplify procedures, broaden service channels and expand electronic data use. Owners can obtain, renew or replace certificates online where technical infrastructure permits, and the electronic records will have the same legal validity as paper documents. All digitised files will be stored in the traffic police’s vehicle‑management system for further use and verification.
