Vietnam adopts Digital Twin technology for smarter urban planning
Minister Vũ Hải Quân, head of Vietnam's Ministry of Science and Technology, said at an international conference on July 28 that the country will develop Digital Twin (digital‑twin) models for cities and national infrastructure. He highlighted the need for a 3‑dimensional geological and cadastral database integrated with simulation models to monitor surface and underground assets in real time, improve planning, predict infrastructure conflicts and optimise investment.
The same forum featured PGS TS Nguyễn Kim Sơn, deputy head of the Party’s Central Policy and Strategy Office, who argued that Vietnam must broaden its "development space" beyond physical borders, incorporating digital data, AI, UAVs, space technologies and international cooperation. He called for unified national planning that links knowledge, technology and cultural assets to raise living standards.
