Vietnam adopts EV charging station standards and offshore wind decree 2026

The Ministry of Industry and Trade, together with the Ministry of Construction, will issue national technical standards for electric‑vehicle charging stations and poles by 30 September 2026, responding to a request from Ha Tĩnh province voters and following a government directive that assigns MoIT to lead the process.

On 9 July 2026 the Vietnamese government issued Decree 272, establishing the regulatory framework for offshore wind development. The decree supports the goal of deploying 6 GW of offshore wind power by 2030 under Power Plan VIII, while highlighting remaining challenges such as investor selection, marine surveys, transmission infrastructure, supply‑chain development, financing and implementation capacity. A related Decree 278 adjusts electricity pricing mechanisms to further the energy transition.
