Vietnam advances AI and digital transformation under Resolution 57‑NQ/TW

Vietnam held a national conference on 22 December 2024 to review the first 18 months of implementation of the Party’s Resolution 57‑NQ/TW, which targets breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation. The report showed that 1,937 tasks were assigned, with 84.8 % of time‑bound tasks completed, and 1,009 of 1,071 submitted feedback items processed. More than 400 legal and regulatory documents—laws, decrees, resolutions and directives—have been issued to create a supportive framework for digital and technological development.

At the same event, Vingroup’s Lưu Anh Tuấn presented six strategic proposals to accelerate AI and Big‑Data adoption nationwide. The proposals call for a national AI data infrastructure, a “Make‑in‑Vietnam” AI model programme, shared high‑performance computing facilities, standards for data sharing, and mechanisms to protect critical data. Vingroup also highlighted its own work: a Vietnamese‑language dataset of over 350 billion tokens and large‑scale language models with up to 420 billion parameters, underscoring the private sector’s role in the country’s tech push.
