Vietnam advances digital transformation in healthcare
Vietnam is advancing digital transformation in the healthcare sector, with significant developments reported in Quang Ninh and Da Nang.
In Quang Ninh, the Geriatric and Rehabilitation Hospital has become only the second facility in the country to utilize robotic technology for patient rehabilitation. The hospital has also integrated AI-powered electronic medical record management to reduce costs and improve treatment accuracy. Additionally, AI technology is being used to screen for retinal diseases, such as glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, with an accuracy rate of up to 95%.
In Da Nang, the city is working toward a smart healthcare model. The goal is for 100% of medical facilities to offer specialized telemedicine by 2025, and for all hospitals to eliminate paper medical records by 2030. Da Nang Hospital has implemented the OneCare digital health application, allowing outpatients to book appointments remotely, view test results, and access prescriptions directly on their smartphones, significantly reducing waiting times.
