Vietnam advances energy infrastructure and green transition goals

Vietnam is advancing its energy infrastructure and green transition goals through new technological implementations and power grid expansions. At the Signify Innovation Day 2026, experts discussed smart lighting and energy-saving solutions aimed at supporting Vietnam’s Net Zero 2050 target. Officials noted that the country aims to save 8-10% of total energy consumption and increase the share of renewable energy in the primary energy supply to 25-30%.

In a separate infrastructure development, the 220kV Phu Quoc substation has been successfully energized. The project, representing an investment of over 877 billion VND, provides a capacity of 2x250 MVA and includes a 17.9 km double-circuit 220 kV line. This facility is designed to meet increasing load demands for tourism and urban development in the special zone, while also preparing the region to host major international events, such as the 2027 APEC Summit.
