Vietnam advances land data digitalization and restructuring

Vietnam is advancing efforts to digitize and restructure its land database to improve public services and reduce paperwork for citizens. The Department of Land Management has issued guidance outlining a seven-step process for restructuring workflows and reusing existing digital land data. This initiative follows a “data-centric” principle, where administrative agencies must utilize existing database information to replace physical documents, preventing citizens and businesses from having to resubmit previously shared information.

In Ha Tinh province, local authorities are accelerating cadastral mapping and land registration to address a significant backlog. The Ha Tinh Department of Natural Resources and Environment reported that over 1.15 million land parcels currently lack usable databases or complete records. Projects are underway across various communes to measure land boundaries and finalize cadastral files, with some local areas aiming to complete their specific mapping plans by September 2026.
