Vietnam advances medicinal plant strategy and 15 billion USD sea reclamation project

In Vietnam, regional authorities are advancing major economic development initiatives. In Lao Cai province, the People's Committee has directed departments and local agencies to accelerate the implementation of strategic medicinal plant development. This follows provincial resolutions aimed at creating a development roadmap for 2026–2030, with a long-term vision toward 2050. Efforts will focus on establishing raw material areas, building databases, and providing support to businesses and households to ensure safe and concentrated production.

Simultaneously, in the Mekong Delta, Can Tho City has proposed a massive sea reclamation project known as the Tran De project to the central government. Estimated at 15 billion USD, the multi-purpose complex covers approximately 132,600 hectares—nearly twice the land area of Singapore. The project is designed to integrate a deep-water seaport, high-quality agriculture, urban areas, tourism, and renewable energy. A significant portion of the site, roughly 7,250 hectares, is designated for renewable energy to leverage the region's wind and solar potential.
