Vietnam advances regional diplomacy in Cambodia and Myanmar

Vietnamese officials are conducting high-level diplomatic missions to strengthen regional ties. Vice President of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh is leading a delegation to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to attend the second Inter-Parliamentary Conference at the Speaker level from August 26 to 28. This visit aims to enhance parliamentary cooperation and exchange between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Simultaneously, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung conducted an official visit to Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, to co-chair the 10th meeting of the Vietnam-Myanmar Joint Commission on bilateral cooperation. During the visit, Le Hoai Trung met with Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing and Khin Yi, President of the House of Representatives.

The discussions focused on entering a new phase of bilateral relations, with emphasis on defense, economy, trade, and investment. Myanmar expressed intentions to facilitate Vietnamese businesses in sectors such as telecommunications, agriculture, logistics, and digital transformation. Vietnam reaffirmed its support for Myanmar’s stability, economic development, and improved living conditions, while proposing mechanisms to boost economic cooperation and digital transformation programs.
