Vietnam advances UAV technology and low-altitude economy

Vietnam is actively developing its low-altitude economy and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) industry. Driven by national resolutions on science, technology, and digital transformation, the country is focusing on mastering UAV technology to support sectors such as agriculture, logistics, construction, and smart city management.

In the defense sector, the Air Defense - Air Force Engineering Institute has achieved significant milestones in domestic UAV production. Moving beyond early wooden models, engineers have developed advanced UAVs, such as the VKT-DN 01, which features high payloads, long flight times, and the ability to carry sub-UAVs or loitering munitions.

Technological breakthroughs include the domestic production of core components, such as autopilot systems capable of operating in magnetic interference environments, and the integration of artificial intelligence to handle complex combat scenarios. This development aims to build a complete domestic supply chain, ranging from component design and semiconductor chips to specialized software and operational services.
