Vietnam advises three study paths for mathematically‑gifted students

Artificial‑intelligence tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude frequently suggest three university fields that suit students with strong logical and quantitative abilities. The first is Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, which rely on probability, statistics, linear algebra and optimisation; demand for graduates in these areas is growing in Vietnam and globally as businesses accelerate digital transformation. The second is Engineering and Technology disciplines—including mechanical, electrical, automation and computer engineering—where mathematics underpins design, modelling and control tasks, and where industry expects continued need for skilled engineers. The third is Finance‑related specialties such as investment analysis, risk management, actuarial science and quantitative finance, which require statistical and modelling expertise and are increasingly important as the financial sector integrates AI and big‑data analytics. Experts caution that while mathematical talent is advantageous, personal interests, communication skills and market conditions also influence the optimal career choice.
