Vietnam advocates for strong multilateralism and global cooperation

Vietnam is advocating for a strong and effective multilateral system to address global challenges through dialogue and cooperation rather than confrontation. During a reception in Geneva marking the 81st anniversary of Vietnam's National Day, Ambassador Mai Phan Dung emphasized the nation's commitment to peace, solidarity, and common development.

Following 40 years of 'Renouveau' (Doi Moi), Vietnam is entering a new developmental phase focused on strengthening national capacity, consolidating strategic autonomy, and improving the quality of life for its citizens. The country aims to play a more active and responsible role in the international community, noting that national development is increasingly linked to global stability and prosperity.

Diplomatic highlights for Vietnam in 2026 include its presidency of the 11th Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), where it has been recognized for its inclusive and constructive approach to reducing international divergences.
