Vietnam reaffirms commitment to peaceful nuclear energy development

Vietnam has reaffirmed its commitment to the safe, secure, and peaceful development of nuclear energy during the 70th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna. A Vietnamese delegation, led by Vice Minister of Science and Technology Lê Xuân Dinh, emphasized the country's dedication to nuclear non-proliferation and the use of nuclear technology for socio-economic development, energy security, and sustainable growth.

As part of its long-term strategy through 2035 with a vision toward 2050, Vietnam is preparing for major nuclear projects. This includes the development of nuclear power plants in Ninh Thuận and the establishment of a nuclear science and technology center featuring a new research reactor. Recent scientific workshops have highlighted that nuclear power is a strategic priority to ensure energy security and support the nation's transition toward green growth and high-tech industrialization.
