Vietnam agricultural innovations boost product value and exports

Scientific and technical innovations by Vietnamese farmers and scientists are enhancing the quality and value of agricultural products, creating new export opportunities. In 2026, the Vietnam Farmers’ Union (VFU) Central Committee recognized 42 ‘Scientists for Farmers’ and awarded 24 ‘Farmers’ technical innovation’ prizes for initiatives addressing practical production needs.

One notable example involves Nguyen Manh Hung from Thanh Hoa province, who developed the NH-10/70 honey purification machine. Designed for household-scale production using standard electricity, the machine addresses issues found in manual harvesting, such as impurities, foaming, and color changes during storage. The use of this technology has significantly increased the market value of honey, with purified products fetching two to two and a half times the price of unrefined honey and meeting OCOP standards for better market access.
