Vietnam agricultural sector sees growth in organic farming and exports

Vietnam's agricultural sector is seeing significant developments in organic farming and fruit and vegetable exports. The fruit and vegetable industry reported an export value of nearly $7.35 billion in the first nine months of the year, a nearly 20% increase compared to the same period last year. Major export markets include China, which accounts for over 60% of the total value, followed by the United States and South Korea. Growth has also been noted in markets such as Cambodia and the European Union.

To meet international demand, producers are increasingly adopting strict organic standards. For example, the Hoa Vien farm in Hanoi operates a 20-hectare organic facility certified by Vietnamese, US, EU, and Japanese standards, supplying 30-40 tons of produce monthly to premium food chains.

However, exporters face challenges regarding evolving food safety regulations. Producers must constantly update their processes to comply with changing requirements for pesticide residues, particularly for the European market, to maintain stable supply chains during the year-end shopping season.
