Vietnam An Giang police prosecute former school principal and accountant for embezzlement

On 15 June, the An Giang provincial police in Vietnam filed criminal charges against former Thạnh Đông primary‑secondary school principal Danh Ngân (born 1972) and the school’s accountant Nguyễn Huy Cường (born 1983). Both were accused of "embezzlement" under paragraph 3 of Article 353 of the Vietnamese Criminal Code and were placed under a residence‑restriction order.

Investigators said that between October 2023 and June 2025 the two officials falsified repair and procurement documents to divert school budget funds for personal use, allegedly misappropriating a total of 663,279,521 VND. The police continue to gather evidence to determine the full extent of the wrongdoing and will proceed with legal action according to the law.
