Vietnam and Algeria celebrate shared history through documentary screening

Vietnamese and Algerian agencies organized a documentary screening in Algiers titled ‘Vietnam - Algeria: Far but Near’. The event was attended by General Nguyen Trong Nghia, a member of the Politburo and Director General of the Political Department of the Vietnam People's Army, along with Algerian military leaders, officials, and the Vietnamese community in Algeria.

The documentary highlights the historical milestones of the relationship between the two nations, emphasizing their shared struggle for independence against colonialism. It showcases the mutual support provided by the governments and peoples of both countries during wartime and the subsequent periods of national reconstruction. The film also includes archival footage of high-level visits, including those by General Vo Nguyen Giap to Algeria.

General Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized the responsibility of current generations to inherit the values established through their shared history of struggle. He encouraged officials and the Vietnamese community in Algeria to continue contributing to the maintenance and development of the friendship between the two countries.
