Vietnam and Australia strengthen economic and strategic ties

The Vietnam-Australia Business Forum 2026 was held on August 24 in Australia, serving as a platform to strengthen trade, investment, and cooperation between the two nations. The forum aimed to facilitate direct dialogue between businesses, investors, and experts to identify suitable partners and expand market access.

Key areas identified for high-growth cooperation include innovation, technology, digital transformation, green transition, clean energy, high-tech agriculture, logistics, real estate, education, and professional services. A Vietnamese business delegation also visited Melbourne and Sydney to gain practical market insights.

In a separate event on August 26, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Sydney hosted a ceremony marking the 81st anniversary of Vietnam's National Day. The event highlighted the progress made since the Doi Moi reforms and emphasized the deepening relationship between Vietnam and Australia, which was elevated to a comprehensive strategic partnership in March 2024. Recent high-level diplomatic visits have further solidified political trust and opened new avenues for cooperation in defense, security, minerals, and science and technology.
