Vietnam and Austria hold investment seminar to boost bilateral cooperation

Vietnam and Austria held an investment connection seminar in Vienna to expand bilateral cooperation and attract high-quality capital. The event, organized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Finance and the Vietnamese Embassy in Austria, included representatives from regulatory agencies, financial institutions, and businesses from both nations.

Vietnam's Deputy Minister of Finance, Nguyen Duc Chi, highlighted the country's strong economic momentum, noting an 8.18% GDP growth in the first half of 2026. He emphasized Vietnam's goal of becoming a high-income developed nation by 2045 and its priority to attract high-quality investment while ensuring equal treatment and legal protection for investors. Plans include developing international financial centers in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, focusing on fintech and green finance.

Additionally, the seminar addressed Vietnam's capital market progress, specifically the upgrade by FTSE Russell from a frontier market to a secondary emerging market. Starting September 21, 2026, Vietnamese stocks will be included in FTSE Russell's global indices. Austria's Deputy Finance Minister, Barbara Eibinger-Miedl, also participated in the discussions regarding the growing interest of European investors in the Vietnamese market.
