Vietnam and Botswana conclude major legislative sessions
The 16th National Assembly of Vietnam concluded its first extraordinary session in Hanoi on August 24. During the 17-day session, lawmakers passed 15 laws and six legal resolutions, while providing first-round consideration to seven additional draft laws. The session focused on refining legal frameworks, accelerating decentralization, reducing administrative procedures, and unlocking resources to support citizens and businesses. Additionally, the legislature approved seven resolutions regarding national development, infrastructure connectivity, energy security, and urban development.
In Botswana, Parliament completed a significant legislative program during its second session, processing over 35 government bills and seven policies between November 2025 and August 2026. The legislation addressed various sectors, including amendments to trust property control, financial intelligence, counter-terrorism, and married persons’ property. The session also involved policy considerations for national health insurance, migration, and technical and vocational education and training.
