Vietnam and Cambodia agree to enhance border security

Police forces from Vietnam’s Tây Ninh Province and several Cambodian provinces, including Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, and Tboung Khmum, have entered into a new agreement to enhance border security.

The cooperation aims to combat transnational organized crime, specifically targeting drug and human trafficking, smuggling, and online fraud. To achieve this, officials have committed to intensified patrols and increased monitoring of border trails and crossings to prevent unauthorized movement and the transport of illegal goods.

The agreement also focuses on emerging security threats, such as terrorism, arms trafficking, and high-tech crime. By establishing direct communication channels and regular meetings, the involved provinces intend to facilitate the swift exchange of information and the prompt resolution of cross-border criminal cases.
