Vietnam and Cambodia parliamentary leaders pledge deeper cooperation and $20 bn trade goal
Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with Cambodian National Assembly President Samdech Khuon Sudary in Hanoi on 28 July 2026. The two sides reaffirmed the importance of their bilateral relationship and pledged to raise two‑way trade to US$20 billion in the near term. They agreed to accelerate border demarcation and marker planting, and to boost connectivity in transport, logistics, telecommunications and financial services.
Vietnam’s President and Party General Secretary To Lam also met the Cambodian parliamentary leader, urging active promotion of cooperation projects and policy coordination. Prime Minister Le Minh Hung later met Khuon Sudary to deepen economic ties. Both parties highlighted the strategic value of Vietnam‑Cambodia‑Laos cooperation, pledged coordination in ASEAN and Mekong sub‑regional forums, and committed to joint activities for the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027.
