Vietnam and China seek deeper science and technology cooperation
Vietnam and China are exploring expanded cooperation in science, technology, and innovation to drive economic growth. During National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man’s official visit to China from October 11 to 15, 2026, discussions focused on leveraging digital transformation and new technologies as emerging growth drivers.
Key areas for potential collaboration include artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, clean energy, the digital economy, and research and development. While China possesses significant capabilities in AI, telecommunications, and electric vehicles, Vietnam is actively promoting its digital economy and the application of technology in state management and production.
The partnership aims to move beyond simple equipment procurement toward deeper integration, including joint research programs, technology transfer, and the training of engineers to develop domestic technological capacity.
