Patrick Achi, President of the National Assembly of Côte d'Ivoire, concluded an official visit to Vietnam from August 23 to 26, 2026, aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and parliamentary cooperation.

During the visit, Achi met with Vietnamese President To Lam and National Assembly President Tran Thanh Man. The discussions focused on deepening relations between the two legislative bodies and coordinating in multilateral forums. A key highlight was the exploration of agricultural and seafood processing models in Can Tho city. The delegation visited Trung An High-Tech Agriculture JSC and Caseamex to study high-tech rice production and seafood export chains.

Agricultural cooperation is a central pillar of the relationship. Côte d'Ivoire is currently Vietnam's third-largest rice export market, while Vietnam imports cashew nuts, cotton, and other raw materials from Côte d'Ivoire. Achi noted that Vietnam's expertise in rice production and processing could help Côte d'Ivoire address food security and increase its agricultural value-added exports. The visit emphasized the potential for Vietnamese businesses to expand into the African market, which is expected to see significant population growth.
