Vietnam and Czech Republic celebrate long-standing diplomatic ties

Ho Chi Minh City officials and the Czech Ambassador to Vietnam gathered on October 22, 2026, to commemorate the 108th anniversary of the Czech Republic’s National Day.

Tran Van Bay, Vice-chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, highlighted the historical depth of the relationship, noting that Czechoslovakia was among the first nations to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam 76 years ago. He emphasized that the former Czechoslovakia provided significant support during Vietnam’s struggle for national liberation and reunification.

The ceremony, hosted by Czech Ambassador Lukáš Kaucký, underscored the current strategic partnership between the two nations. Discussions focused on the importance of people-to-people exchanges and the role of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic in sustaining these bonds. Ho Chi Minh City expressed readiness to welcome further Czech government, business, and social organization delegations to foster concrete development projects.
