Vietnam and Denmark upgrade relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

Vietnam and Denmark have officially upgraded their bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The announcement followed an official visit to Denmark by Vietnamese Party General Secretary and State President Tô Lâm, during which he held discussions with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

The diplomatic upgrade includes the signing of 16 cooperation agreements spanning sectors such as trade, clean energy, transport, and sustainable tourism. To enhance connectivity between Northern Europe and Southeast Asia, Vietnam Airlines has signed memorandums of understanding with Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) and Copenhagen Airport. This cooperation aims to improve network coordination and explore codeshare opportunities to facilitate smoother travel between Denmark and Vietnam’s major international airports in Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City.

This upgrade brings the total number of Vietnam’s comprehensive strategic partners to 16.
