Vietnam and ERIA discuss economic cooperation and APEC 2027
Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Ngo Le Van met with Watanabe Tetsuya, President of the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), to discuss regional economic cooperation and the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
During the meeting, officials highlighted the expansion of bilateral cooperation into emerging sectors, including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, digital transformation, green transition, and energy security. Watanabe expressed ERIA’s readiness to provide research and policy recommendations for the APEC debates that Vietnam is scheduled to host in 2027.
Deputy Minister Ngo Le Van emphasized that science, technology, and innovation are essential drivers for Vietnam to achieve its goal of becoming a high-income, developed nation by 2045. He noted that ERIA’s research on industrial policy and sustainable development serves as a valuable reference for the region.
