Vietnam and France strengthen Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

Vietnamese General Secretary and President Tô Lâm conducted an official visit to France from September 10-11, 2026, to strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations. During the visit, leaders from Vietnam and France, including President Emmanuel Macron, approved an Action Plan for the 2026-2028 period to implement their strategic framework.

The two leaders emphasized cooperation in maintaining an open international trade system and a rules-based international order, expressing opposition to the use of force against international law. The discussions also focused on sustainable economic development and multilateralism.

On the economic front, Vietnam Airlines participated in a business seminar at the Élysée Palace organized by the Vietnamese Ministry of Finance and the French employers' union, MEDEF. During the visit, Vietnam Airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Airbus for the purchase of five Airbus A350-900 wide-body aircraft, scheduled for delivery between 2033 and 2034.
