Vietnam and Japan strengthen local and agricultural cooperation
The second Vietnam-Japan Local Cooperation Forum was held in Hue, following the inaugural event in Quang Ninh. The forum aims to institutionalize regular connection mechanisms between local governments, moving the relationship from simple exchange to a phase of 'accompanying development' to solve specific regional challenges.
In addition to administrative cooperation, there is a growing focus on high-tech agriculture. Experts suggest that Japan can support Vietnam by building an ecosystem for technology adoption rather than just selling machinery. This includes transferring technologies such as AI, IoT, drones, and smart irrigation, as well as training Vietnamese engineers and farmers. Such efforts align with the MIDORI Plan, which seeks to promote smart and climate-resilient agriculture across ASEAN nations.
