Vietnam and Laos deepen agriculture and environment partnership

Vietnam's Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc met with Laos' Minister of Agriculture and Environment Linkham Douangsavanh in Hanoi on 14 July 2026. The two officials reviewed the implementation of bilateral cooperation, including the outcomes of the 48th Vietnam‑Laos Intergovernmental Committee meeting and recent high‑level exchanges, and set out strategic orientations for the 2026‑2030 period.

Both sides pledged to expand collaboration in crop production, livestock farming, forestry, irrigation, water‑resource management, environmental protection, agricultural processing and value‑chain development, as well as to boost science‑technology transfer and human‑resource training. The discussion highlighted joint efforts on food security, climate‑change response, natural‑resource management and forest conservation, and reaffirmed Laos' appreciation for Vietnamese support and investment in these sectors.
