Vietnam and Laos deepen judicial cooperation at border conference
Vietnam's permanent deputy prime minister Pham Gia Tuc hosted Laotian vice‑premier and justice minister Khamphan Phommathath in Hanoi, praising four decades of legal collaboration and urging stronger coordination under the new “strategic cohesion” concept. Both sides highlighted the upcoming 7th Vietnam‑Laos Border Provinces Justice Conference as a platform to exchange experience, accelerate digitalisation of the courts and remove barriers to cross‑border projects.
President of Vietnam and Communist Party general secretary To Lam also received Phommathath, describing the visit as proof of the two nations' “special friendship” and stressing joint efforts to improve legal frameworks, civil‑registry management in border zones and professional training for judges and prosecutors. The officials reiterated commitment to a transparent legal environment that supports economic and social development in border regions.
