Vietnam and Mercosur begin trade negotiations
Vietnam and the Mercosur trade bloc concluded the first round of negotiations for a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The five-day session, held from August 24 to August 28, aims to strengthen economic and commercial cooperation between Vietnam and South American nations.
During the negotiations, delegates met with Argentina's Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Worship, Pablo Quirno. Quirno identified Vietnam as a key partner for Argentina in Southeast Asia and expressed a desire to deepen economic ties by removing trade barriers. He proposed the establishment of a concrete roadmap to accelerate the negotiation process.
The participating delegations, including Vietnam's Ambassador to Argentina Ngo Minh Nguyet and Argentina's Undersecretary of International Economic Negotiations and Integration Roberto Alejandro Salafia, emphasized a commitment to reaching a balanced agreement that serves the interests of both parties.
