Vietnam and Nara Prefecture discuss local cooperation and investment
Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung met with Yamashita Makoto, the Governor of Japan's Nara Prefecture, during the second Vietnam-Japan Local Cooperation Forum held in Hue.
Minister Trung emphasized that cooperation between local governments serves as an effective channel for fulfilling high-level bilateral agreements and strengthening people-to-people exchanges. He urged Nara Prefecture to encourage small and medium-sized enterprises to expand investments in Vietnam and to increase cooperation in technology transfer, high-quality human resource training, digital transformation, and green transition.
Governor Yamashita noted that the Vietnamese community, numbering over 5,200 people, represents the largest foreign group in Nara and contributes significantly to the prefecture's socio-economic development. He affirmed that local authorities would continue to support Vietnamese nationals living, studying, and working in the region.
