Vietnam and Philippines Navy Hold Ninth Friendship Exchange
The ninth bilateral friendship exchange between the Vietnamese and Philippine navies took place on July 6‑7 on Song Tu Tay island in the Spratly (Truong Sa) zone. The Vietnamese delegation, led by Colonel Bui Quang Thuyen, Deputy Commander of Naval Region 4, was hosted by the Vietnam People’s Navy, while the Philippine side was represented by Commodore Francisco C. Cacho, Deputy Commander of the Philippine Navy’s Western Naval Command.
The two navies used the event to deepen mutual trust and practical cooperation, exchanging information on search‑and‑rescue, maritime security and disaster‑warning systems. Officers and sailors also participated in friendly sports, cultural performances and culinary exchanges, reinforcing ties that support peace, stability and maritime security in the region. After completing its mission, Ship 571 of Squadron 411 returned to Cam Ranh Naval Base on July 8.
Vietnam’s Navy highlighted the sustained cooperation mechanisms established through annual exchanges, bilateral consultations and joint participation in regional activities, emphasizing their role in enhancing coordination for disaster response and maritime safety.
