Vietnam and Singapore to launch joint Advanced Manufacturing Research Center
Vietnam and Singapore are establishing the Vietnam Advanced Manufacturing Research Center (VAMRC), a joint initiative involving Vietnam's Ministry of Science and Technology, the Singapore Embassy, Singapore's Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and the industrial park developer Becamex. The centre will focus on automation, robotics, artificial intelligence, digital factory transformation, green manufacturing and supply‑chain resilience. It will provide shared laboratories and research facilities for foreign firms, SMEs and universities, allowing them to prototype, test and validate technologies before large‑scale deployment and to upgrade existing production lines without full replacement.
Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan said the ministry will support Becamex and A*STAR in preparing a detailed proposal covering objectives, priority areas, governance, financing and the role of each partner, aiming to create a platform that connects businesses, research institutes and technology providers to address real manufacturing challenges.
