Vietnam and Tanzania strengthen economic and diplomatic ties
Vietnam and Tanzania are strengthening bilateral ties through economic diplomacy and intergovernmental cooperation. During the second meeting of the Vietnam-Tanzania Intergovernmental Committee, officials held a business connectivity forum in Dar es Salaam on September 22 to facilitate direct dialogue and investment opportunities between the two nations.
Participants included Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyễn Hoàng Hiệp and Tanzanian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation James Millya. Major corporations such as Vingroup, Intimex, Phulimex, and Viettel Tanzania (Halotel) were represented. Tanzanian officials noted that their trade surplus with Vietnam rose from $140.9 million in 2022 to $314.2 million in 2025, highlighting Vietnam as a key market for Tanzanian agricultural products, particularly cashews.
In addition to economic discussions, the Vietnamese delegation visited the Embassy of Vietnam in Tanzania. The visit included a ceremony at the newly established Ho Chi Minh Memorial Room, the first cultural site of its kind in East Africa dedicated to the Vietnamese leader.
