Vietnam and Thailand celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations
Vietnam and Thailand held a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations (1976–2026). The event highlighted the progression of the bilateral relationship, which was upgraded to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in May 2025.
Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, Chairman of the Advisory Council to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, noted that recent high-level exchanges, including visits by Vietnamese General Secretary and President To Lam and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, demonstrate a strong commitment to deepening ties.
Officials emphasized that the partnership aims to foster economic connectivity, people-to-people exchanges, and cultural cooperation. The two nations expressed a shared vision of working toward a united and resilient ASEAN, as well as a peaceful and stable region.
