Vietnam and UAE Sign Defense Industry Cooperation MoU

On 30 June 2026 the ministries of defence of Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates signed a Memorandum of Understanding on defence‑industry cooperation in Hanoi. The agreement was signed by Lieutenant General Nguyễn Trường Thắng, Deputy Minister of Defence of Vietnam, and Major General Ibrahim Nasser Mohammed Al Alawi, Deputy Minister of Defence of the UAE.

The MoU opens a new phase of bilateral security collaboration, covering joint development of defence equipment, exchange of senior officials, establishment of resident defence attaché offices, cooperation in UN peace‑keeping, military medicine, logistics, non‑traditional security and high‑level training programmes. Vietnam invited UAE defence officials to attend the third Vietnam International Defence Exhibition scheduled for December 2026, and both sides expressed intention to expand cooperation in related sectors.

The agreement reinforces the broader Comprehensive Partnership between the two countries, which has seen growing political, economic and security ties in recent years.
