Vietnam and United States agree to deepen strategic partnership
Vietnamese Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung met U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on the sidelines of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Manila. The two officials said they will deepen the "comprehensive strategic partnership" between Hanoi and Washington, expand high‑level exchanges and improve bilateral dialogue mechanisms. Vietnam reiterated its desire to conclude a reciprocal, fair and balanced U.S.–Vietnam trade agreement quickly and asked the United States to finish the Section 301 investigation in a way that reflects Vietnam’s efforts. Both sides highlighted that the growing cooperation benefits their peoples and contributes to regional peace and stability.
The meeting underscored continued coordination between the two foreign ministries and a joint commitment to advance cooperation across political, economic and security domains.
