Vietnam and U.S. advance trade and technology cooperation
During a working visit to the United States, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang met with high-ranking officials from the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), the Department of State, the Department of Commerce, and the International Development Finance Corporation (DFC).
The discussions focused on deepening the Vietnam-US comprehensive strategic partnership, specifically in the sectors of economy, trade, finance, and technology. A key priority identified was the negotiation of the Reciprocal, Fair, and Balanced Trade (ART) Agreement to promote sustainable bilateral trade.
In a business seminar in Washington, D.C., Thang engaged with approximately 60 U.S. companies and financial institutions, including Visa, Citigroup, Morgan Stanley, and Qualcomm. Charles Freeman of the US-ASEAN Business Council (USCC) noted that many American firms are eager to expand their investments in Vietnam, praising recent Vietnamese legislative reforms regarding customs and intellectual property rights.
