Vietnam and U.S. strengthen cooperation to support Agent Orange victims
A delegation from the Ho Chi Minh City chapter of the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (VAVA) visited the United States to raise awareness regarding the long-term consequences of Agent Orange and dioxin in Vietnam.
The delegation met with various American organizations, including VietLead and the Vietnam Agent Orange Relief & Responsibility Campaign (VAORRC), to seek support from veterans, legal experts, and youth organizations. Discussions focused on healthcare, rehabilitation, vocational training, and livelihood support for victims.
During the visit, U.S. Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib expressed interest in supporting policy advocacy for those affected by dioxin and enhancing healthcare for U.S. veterans. She emphasized the importance of expanding support networks within the U.S. Congress and strengthening coordination with the Asian American community and social organizations.
