Vietnam appoints President Tô Lâm and passes new Investment Law

Vietnam’s National Assembly approved the Law on Investment No. 143/2025/QH15, a comprehensive framework governing domestic and overseas business investment activities, including definitions of investment projects, registration procedures and a national investment database.

In the same session the Assembly elected the top leadership for the 2026–2031 term: General Secretary Tô Lâm was chosen as President, Lê Minh Hưng, head of the Party’s Commission for Organization, was appointed Prime Minister, and Trần Thanh Mẫn was re‑elected as Chairman of the National Assembly. These appointments complete the post‑Congress restructuring of Vietnam’s state apparatus.
