Vietnam to award 1,500 scholarships for strategic technology training

Vietnam has approved a government program to award 1,500 full scholarships to outstanding students and young scientists for training in strategic technologies at leading global universities. Signed by Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau, the initiative aims to build a high-quality workforce to drive national digital transformation, innovation, and scientific breakthroughs.

The program targets completion by the end of 2035. The planned distribution of scholarships includes 100 undergraduate students, 400 master's students, 500 doctoral candidates, and 500 postdoctoral researchers. Recipients will study at institutions ranked among the top 500 globally in their respective fields.

Eligibility criteria vary by level. Undergraduate candidates include high-achieving high school or first-year university students, including those from military and police institutions. Master's applicants must hold relevant bachelor's degrees with excellent academic records, while PhD candidates require a master's degree with a minimum score of 8.0 out of 10. Postdoctoral researchers must demonstrate significant scientific achievements, such as publications in reputable international journals or patents.
