Vietnam, Australia deepen ties at second senior officials dialogue
Vietnam and Australia met in Hanoi for their second senior officials' dialogue, attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong and Australian Deputy Secretary Michelle Chan. The talks reviewed the 2024‑2027 Action Program for their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, noting that 96% of the items have been completed or are on schedule.
Both sides highlighted expanding cooperation in development, education, defence, trade and technology, with trade turnover projected to exceed US$14 billion in 2025. Australia reaffirmed its commitment to support Vietnam’s green and digital transitions, while Vietnam praised Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040. The parties agreed to prepare upcoming high‑level exchanges and deepen collaboration in strategic minerals, science‑technology and people‑to‑people links.
