Vietnam authorities crack down on counterfeit goods and mooncakes

Market surveillance authorities in Vietnam are intensifying efforts to combat the sale of counterfeit and untraceable goods. In Hanoi, officials have seized thousands of mooncake products, candies, and children's toys of unknown origin as part of food safety inspections for the Mid-Autumn Festival.

In one specific case in Thư Lâm, a business owner was fined 16 million VND after authorities discovered 871 pieces of children's toys lacking proper labeling, certification, or origin documentation. Other inspections by the Hanoi Market Surveillance Force have resulted in fines exceeding 102 million VND for various violations.

In addition to enforcement, authorities in Lai Chau are conducting educational activities to help consumers distinguish between genuine and counterfeit products. These demonstrations teach citizens how to identify fraudulent goods by examining differences in color, shape, font, packaging, and labeling to prevent the purchase of low-quality or illegal merchandise.
